ක්‍රීඩා අමාත්‍ය රොෂාන් රණසිංහ මහතා සිදු කරන ප්‍රකාශවලට එරෙහිව ශ්‍රී ලංකා ක්‍රිකට් ආයතනය නීතිමය පියවර ගැනීමට තීරණය කර තිබෙනවා.
නිවේදනයක් නිකුත් කරමින් ක්‍රිකට් ආයතනය සඳහන් කළේ අමාත්‍යවරයා දිගින් දිගටම සිදු කරන සහ හානිදායක අපහාසාත්මක ප්‍රකාශ සම්බන්ධයෙන් ප්‍රතිචාර දක්වමින් තම කීර්ති නාමය සහ අඛණ්ඩතාව ආරක්ෂා කර ගැනීම සඳහා තීරණාත්මක පියවරක් ගෙන ඇති බවයි.
එබැවින්, පසුගිය (13) වනදා ශ්‍රී ලංකා ක්‍රිකට් සභාපති, උප සභාපති සහ භාණ්ඩාගාරික එක්ව ශ්‍රී ලංකා ක්‍රිකට් වෙනුවෙන් රුපියල් බිලියන 2.4ක වන්දියක් ඉල්ලා කොළඹ දිසා අධිකරණයේ අපහාස නඩුවක් ගොනු කර තිබෙනවා.
ක්‍රීඩා අමාත්‍යවරයා විසින් දිගින් දිගටම අසත්‍ය හා හානිකර ප්‍රකාශ ප්‍රචාරය කිරීම ශ්‍රී ලංකා ක්‍රිකට් ආයතනයේ ප්‍රතිරූපයට දේශීය හා ජාත්‍යන්තර වශයෙන් සැලකිය යුතු හානියක් සිදු කර ඇති බවයි ඔවුන් පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ.
ශ්‍රී ලංකා ක්‍රිකට් ආයතනයේ සියලු උත්සාහයන් තුළ විනිවිදභාවය, වගවීම සහ සාධාරණ ක්‍රීඩාව තහවුරු කිරීමට ආයතනයේ ඉහළ නායකත්වය කැපවී සිටින බව අදාළ නිවේදනයේ සඳහන්.
ක්‍රීඩා සමාජය තුළ ශ්‍රී ලංකා ක්‍රිකට් ආයතනයේ ස්ථාවරයට සිදුවී ඇති අනවශ්‍ය හානිය නිවැරදි කිරීම මෙම නීතිමය ක්‍රියාමාර්ගයේ අරමුණයි.
ක්‍රිකට් ආයතනයේ සහ එහි සාමාජිකයින්ගේ කීර්ති නාමය ආරක්ෂා කිරීම සඳහා මෙම පියවර අවශ්‍ය බව ශ්‍රී ලංකා ක්‍රිකට් විධායක කමිටුව විශ්වාස කරන බව ද ඔවුන් සිය නිවේදනය මගින් පෙන්වා දෙනවා.
ක්‍රීඩකයින්, නිලධාරීන් සහ ක්‍රීඩා ලෝලීන් සඳහා ධනාත්මක පරිසරයක් නිර්මාණය කරමින් ක්‍රීඩාවේ ජීව ගුණය ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීම කෙරෙහි අවධානය යොමු කරන බවයි ක්‍රිකට් ආයතනය තම නිවේදනයෙන් පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ.
ක්‍රීඩා අමාත්‍යවරයාට එරෙහිව ආරම්භ කර ඇති නීතිමය ක්‍රියාමාර්ග මගින් අවධාරනය කරන්නේ තම ආයතනයේ මූලධර්ම ආරක්ෂා කිරීමට සහ එහි පාර්ශවකරුවන් පදනම් විරහිත චෝදනා වලින් ආරක්ෂා කිරීමට ඇති කැපවීම බව ක්‍රිකට් ආයතනය ප්‍රකාශ කළා.

In response to the persistent and damaging defamatory statements made by the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Roshan Ranasinghe, Sri Lanka Cricket has taken a decisive step to protect its reputation and integrity. Therefore, on the 13th November 2023, the President, Vice President, and Treasurer of Sri Lanka Cricket jointly filed a defamation lawsuit in the District Court of Colombo, seeking damages amounting to 2.4 Billion rupees on behalf of the Sri Lanka Cricket. The continuous dissemination of false and harmful statements by the Minister of Sports has caused substantial harm to the image of Sri Lanka Cricket, both domestically and internationally. The Sri Lanka Cricket, represented by its top leadership, is committed to upholding transparency, accountability, and fair play in all its endeavors. The legal action aims to rectify the unwarranted damage inflicted on Sri Lanka Cricket’s standing in the sporting community. The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket believes that this step is necessary to safeguard the reputation of the organization and its members. Sri Lanka Cricket remains focused on promoting the spirit of the game, fostering a positive environment for players, officials, and fans alike. The legal proceedings initiated against the Minister of Sports underscore the organization’s dedication to upholding its principles and protecting its stakeholders from baseless allegations.
